Find Your Symptom

The six symptoms we hear about most, and how we approach each one. Visible damage can often be assessed from photos; when nothing shows on the outside, a full diagnosis is needed to find the cause.

SymptomTypical causeRepair methodLikelihood
Missing MLCC / passive componentKnocked off during cleaning or heatsink swapsSMD reinstallationVery high
Not detectedSPD · PMIC · cold solder jointRepair after diagnosisCase by case
No boot / POST failureVariousAssessed after full diagnosisCase by case

Symptoms not on the list are welcome too. Send photos and a description, and we'll outline the diagnostic approach and likely cost range first.

Ask about your symptom →

These likelihoods are estimates drawn from repeated experience with the same symptoms — they are not a promise of repair. Even when we find the cause, part prices or job complexity can make a repair not worth recommending, and a broken trace in the PCB's inner layers can make repair meaningless. If we reach that conclusion, we tell you before any work is done.

What Our Clients Say

Real feedback from clients who trusted us with their RAM and memory module repairs.

★★★★★
I had a used RAM that I bought for my server but it wasn't working, so I sent it in for repair. Great price and excellent work — this is the first place I've seen that does this level of service.

★★★★★
The manufacturer refused warranty service, and other repair shops turned me away saying RAM is a consumable. But ResolderWorks tried their best to save them — ended up recovering two modules I was about to throw away. With RAM prices these days, truly grateful.

Shipped from the US and communication via email was smooth. I expected it to take a long time, but they work fast — repair was done in just 2 weeks. Looking forward to working with them again.

Transparent Pricing Structure

Final pricing is determined after diagnosis. Below are reference ranges for common repair types. Listed amounts are labor only. Small passive parts (resistors, capacitors) carry no parts charge; semiconductor parts such as DRAM or PMIC are billed separately at our purchase cost.

No minimum

A single module is welcome.

Volume discount applies automatically from 5 units.

Diagnose First. You Decide the Rest.

We take in modules that Samsung, SK hynix and other manufacturers have refused or no longer cover. Every job starts with a full diagnosis and a written quote — nothing is touched without your approval.

🔍

Diagnosis first — you decide

After a full diagnosis we send a quote, and no work proceeds without your approval.

🛡️

90-day warranty

If the same fault recurs within 90 days of delivery, we repair it again free of charge.

🧾

The diagnostic fee works like insurance

If a repair we diagnosed and quoted fails, the diagnosis was wrong — so we don't charge for the repair.

From Intake to Delivery

Our systematic 4-step process ensures transparency, quality, and peace of mind at every stage.

📩
Step 01

Submit & Ship

Submit inquiry online and ship modules in ESD-safe packaging.

🔍
Step 02

Diagnosis & Quote

Full diagnostic analysis with detailed report. Repair begins after approval.

🔧
Step 03

Repair & Testing

BGA rework and component replacement with full test verification.

📦
Step 04

Payment & Return

Pay once the result is confirmed, then we ship back in ESD-safe packaging. 90-day warranty from delivery.

Repair Terms: BGA rework involves inherent risks. While we take utmost care, there is a small possibility of additional damage during the repair process. By submitting modules for repair, you acknowledge this risk. We do not guarantee data recovery. The 90-day warranty covers the specific repair performed and excludes pre-existing or unrelated issues.

🧪

Cosmetic marks and residue

Rework can leave flux residue, slight discoloration, or heat marks on the PCB. We clean every module after the work, but we cannot guarantee a factory-new cosmetic finish. These marks are cosmetic — every module is fully tested before it is returned.

🏷️

Label stickers

Depending on where the fault is, we may need to peel off and re-apply the module's label sticker. We take care to preserve it, but stickers do not always return to their original state — creasing, lifting, or partial tearing can occur. If label condition matters to you (warranty or asset tracking), please mention it when you contact us.

♻️

Donor modules

When a module is found to be non-repairable, we may recover working components from it to repair your other modules. If donor use is needed, we itemize it on the quote or notify you separately, and proceed only after your confirmation. A module used as a donor is returned with those components removed — we do not restore it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most often.

Repair timelines vary depending on the issue and parts availability. Simple repairs may take about a week, while complex cases requiring special parts can take up to 4 weeks. We'll communicate the estimated timeline clearly in your quote.
We repair DDR4 and DDR5 RAM of all types — server-grade RDIMM/LRDIMM (ECC) memory, desktop UDIMM RAM, and laptop SODIMM (ECC and non-ECC). Contact us with your part number if you're unsure.
If the damage is visible — a missing component, worn gold fingers, dents or scratches — photos alone often tell us a lot. But symptoms with no external signs, like a module that looks fine yet isn't detected, can only be understood through a full diagnosis. Send photos along with a description of the symptom and we'll outline the diagnostic approach and likely cost range first.
If you commissioned a full diagnosis and the repair fails against the quote we gave you, our diagnosis was wrong — so we return your module with no charge for labor or parts. The diagnostic fee covers finding the cause and working out the fix, so it still applies; it's what makes that guarantee possible — a kind of insurance. If you specified the repair area yourself, there is no diagnostic fee, but labor is billed regardless of the outcome. Note that traces of the diagnostic and repair attempt may remain, and if you approved donor use, that module is returned with the recovered components removed. If you prefer, we can also offer to purchase the module for parts.
Yes! We accept and return shipments worldwide. We recommend DHL, FedEx, or EMS; round-trip shipping is paid by the customer and quoted per destination. See our Shipping section for packaging and customs guidelines.
All repairs come with a 90-day warranty. If the same issue recurs within the warranty period, we will repair it again at no charge. The warranty covers the specific repair performed, not pre-existing or unrelated issues.
It depends on the type of damage. Chip-level faults and visible external damage tend to repair well, but when a trace in the PCB's inner layers is broken, repair can be impractical or meaningless. Even with the cause found, part prices or job complexity can make a repair not worth recommending. Either way, we tell you exactly where things stand after diagnosis — and you decide whether to proceed.
Yes. For repair requests of 5+ modules, volume discounts are available. For datacenters and IT providers, we offer custom quotes based on your volume and schedule. Please use the quote request form above to get in touch.
Not exactly. Rework can leave flux residue or slight discoloration, and label stickers cannot always be re-applied perfectly. Every module is cleaned and fully tested before it ships back — see our repair terms for the full details.
Total cost = diagnostic fee + labor + parts (when needed); Korean customers add 10% VAT. For example, a $12 diagnostic fee plus $35 labor comes to $47. Parts depend on what's replaced — DRAM chips run about ₩30,000 (DDR4) to ₩50,000 (DDR5), and server-grade (RDIMM·LRDIMM) parts can cost more. If you specify the repair area yourself, only labor is billed — no diagnostic fee. No work proceeds until you approve the quote, and payment is due after the repair is complete and the result is confirmed.
Yes — there is no minimum quantity. We accept single-module repairs, and orders of 5 or more modules automatically qualify for a volume discount.
Inbound shipping to us is paid by the customer. We cover return shipping when the diagnostic fee plus repair labor (parts excluded) totals ₩100,000 or more; below that, return shipping is on the customer (international returns are quoted per destination). There is no upfront payment — you pay by bank transfer, or PayPal for international customers, after the repair is complete and the result is confirmed.
Use the order number issued at submission (it starts with RW-) together with your email address at resolderworks.com/track — available anytime. We also email you at key milestones such as arrival confirmation and your quote.
